A cubic metre is ... the volume of an item an area 100cm x 100cm x 100cm.
Measure the Height, Width and Length of the item and multiply the three inputs by each other

It should take about 15 minutes for one man to move one cubic of 'average' rubbish 50 metres on a level surface.
Factors that may cause more time to be taken include:
- If the rubbish has to be moved up or down stairs or a slope
- Heavy items - anything over a 10kg, like the weight of a sack of pototoes
- Narrow access paths, like thin gaps between buildings or negotiating around protruding tree branches
- Lots of small compact items, like building debris and concrete
To work out how long the job will take for two men to complete ...
We suggest you measure the time it takes for you to walk from the rubbish location to the where you expect the the rubbish truck to park. If less than 5 minutes assume 5 minutes. Multiply the time by the cubic meters and then multiply the result by 2 if there are none of the factors listed above or by a higher value if there are impediments
